MOVE IT! Film Festival for Human Rights
MOVE IT! is a small film festival located in Dresden, Germany. It is focused on human rights themes with a special emphasis on women's and children's rights, due to the thematic focus of it’s organising NGO, Akifra e.V. Founded in 2004, MOVE IT! Film Festival takes place in the second week of November in different locations in Dresden. Since 2015 one of the selected films gets honoured with the MOVE IT! Film Prize for Human Rights and Development, in 2019 endowed with 5000.- Euro. The festivals aim is to support and empower a discourse on human rights within our society by screening a variation of international films - mainly documentaries - which are not older than two years and have never been shown in Dresden before. Furthermore, all movies that are progrmmed focus on a specific annual theme of human rights matters (exp. annual theme 2017: “hidden conflicts – secret wars”; 2018 “alternative choices”, 2019 “under pressure”) and the majority of screenings are accompanied by film talks and moderated discussions with film makers, activist or experts.
MOVE IT! Film Festival understands itself as a platform for exchange, discussion and human relations in its best sense. Watch out – MOVE IT!
