UNHCR Refugee Film Festival

30 September to 12 November 2017

Tokyo-Sapporo-Nagoya-Osaka-Fukuoka-Hiroshima (Japan)

Since 2006, the UNHCR Refugee Film Festival (RFF) in Japan, co-organized by the Japan Association for UNHCR and UNHCR Representation in Japan, has been receiving support and understanding concerning its impact to the Japanese society in its aim to increase awareness regarding the refugee issues around the world.

Last year, the 11th UNHCR Refugee Film Festival hosted 13 films in 4 cities (Tokyo, Sapporo, Sendai, Osaka) and sixteen Universities, with a successful attendance of over 7000 people. This year, following its prior years’ successes, UNHCR plans to implement the 12th edition of the film festival in Japan.

The program will comprise films and other visual materials calling people’s attention to the topical issues of refugees, IDPs, asylum seekers, statelessness, mixed migration and other related geopolitical and humanitarian subjects surrounding those vulnerable people.
