Description

The International Film Festival Human Rights “The Seventh Eye is Yours” (FESTIMO) is organized by PUKAÑAWI, which means “red eye” in the Quechua language. This organization, inspired by the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and the UNESCO Declaration on Cultural Diversity, was founded in 2004 as the center of cultural management of film, and has been organizing the festival ever since. The FESTIMO consists of free screenings of over 70 films from 30 countries. It is also the place for meeting filmmakers and human rights defenders, intercultural dialogue and training of new filmmakers. It also offers an exhibition of photographs, paintings, as well as music, party and conferences or roundtables with guests.

In 2011 the first Iberoamerican Documentary Film Workshop on Human Rights was held, a professional training of starting filmmakers. Also, the Thursday screenings at the Human Rights Cinetheque were launched. In honor of indigenous peoples, the Cinetheque of Human Rights was adopted in Amsterdam, at the HRFN meeting in November 2008. The Cinetheque, which was born as a result of the annual FESTIMO, includes a digital archive, a platform for online film distribution and a documentary film school. The infrastructure for the Cinetheque is currently being developed on a plot close to the city of Sucre.the Human Rights Cinetheque runs every Thursday with free entry at the House of Liberty.
