Movies that Matter Festival 2011 Award winners

The Movies that Matter Festival 2011 was a good success. A record of 17.500 persons attended the screenings and debates between 24 and 30 March 2011. The festival presented over 200 film screenings and approximately 70 films (including 30 premieres) and dozens of daily debates, talk shows, discussions and interviews.Guests of this year’s programme included: Human Rights Advocate Bianca Jagger (Chairwoman of the A Matter of ACT Jury), former UN Reporter for Human Rights Defenders Hina Jilani, ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo, 10 prominent human rights defenders including PEN Award winners Andrei Nekrasov, and Suciwati Munir, Poet Laureate of the Netherlands Ramsey Nasr.Award winners are: Ayed Morrar in Budrus (by Julia Bacha); Sarabah, by Maria Luisa Gambale and  Gloria Bremer; Impunity by Juan José Lozano and Hollman Morri; Neukölln Unlimited by Agostino Imondi and  Dietmar Ratsch; The Green Wave by  Ali Samadi Ahad; Min Dît - The Children of Diyarbakir by  Miraz BizarFor reportages about the festival, please visit www.moviesthatmatterfestival.nl.The next edition of the Movies that Matter Festival will be held from 22 - 28 March 2012
